The pressure as an exhibition approaches

This month I have been hard at work trying to produce some good paintings for the exhibition in May. As an exhibition deadline gets nearer I tend to go into overdrive producing many paintings to select from. For every painting I am happy with there are at least a couple along the way that get painted over or reworked to the extent that there is nothing left of the original.

Peak District - Landscape Paintings

Thought you might like to see what I'm upto at the moment. I recently completed the the following paintings and they will be available end of May through Derbyshire Open Arts. Painted these in a confident mood with big bold strokes and resisted the temptation to overwork them, always a temptation.

Curbar Mist

I'm currently working on this rather large 48"x32" landscape, inspired by the view from Curbar Edge on a misty day. Its difficult to know when to stop adding mist :-)

Derwent Gallery Exhibition: Autumn Exhibition

For a while now I have been working with the Derwent Gallery in Grindleford. Over the Christmas period they found collectors for several of my paintings, my 8x8 paintings are particularly popular.

I am pleased to say that they have given me a solo exhibition which starts 23rd August for 5 weeks. To see a collection of my current work available through the gallery checkout http://www.derwentgallery.com/gbuxton.htm
