Tywyn by the Sea

Tywyn - late afternoon

I took this picture at a relaxing break last month at Tywyn. Tywyn is in mid wales north of Aberyswyth and south of Barmouth. A pleasant seaside town with enough shops to survive comfortably but not too spoiled with touristy attractions. At the moment the sea front looks like a construction site, as it quite literally is. They are currently reinforcing the sea defenses, they have even created a mini island out at sea as part of this. For some reason this part of the world gets the most astounding sunsets. Sunsets whilst wonderful "live" are a bit "chocolate boxy" for me when it comes to photos and paintings. But I have included a photo any way below.

Descent through rain

I took this picture* (as a passenger not driver ;-) a couple of years ago. We were driving down the hill that leads into the the small town of Aberdovey (Aberdyfi). it was dusk and raining very hard, visibility was poor and its quite a narrow, coastal road. I think this photo captures the motion and darkness of the road.

*Taken with a mobile phone, a mobile phone is better than any high-end camera as you are more likely to have it to hand. What is better a low-resolution photo or none at all?

After quite a rest over the summer I have started painting in earnest again. Below are two moorland landscapes and a seascape. I will be entering Derby Open again this year with a sculpture, a an abstract painitng and a seascape. I will put them up on the blog later in the week.

Recently completed seascapes of Tywn in mid-Wales.

Breeze, Chaos Theory and new painting

Sat out in the garden this afternoon reading all about Chaos Theory (its not all art!). Great breeze in the trees at the end of the garden.

Here is my latest painting, been working on this for a week or two and tweaking it. Its called Peak Hill Mist #2, inspired by elements of both the Peak District and Welsh landscape. I'm not selling it just yet, hoping to enter it into an upcoming exhibition/open art competition
